Evil hadoken-ing its way to Nintendo’s newest system this Spring
Everyone loves Street Fighter II, right? I know I spend a tremendous amount of time with the game in the 1990s (yes I’m old!) so hearing that Capcom will be bringing a new version of the classic fighter to the Switch certainly interests me!
For the first time in 20 years, the classic title has been updated with two new characters, with “Violent Ken” and “Evil Ryu” joining the classic roster in the lengthily-titled Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers. They always did love those long add-ons at Capcom!
Evil Ryu has seemingly gone mad, with his obsession with fighting resulted in him succumbing to the Satsui no Hado and now has to prove his dominance. Purging himself of honour, he now yields absolute power with an unquenchable thirst for battle.
Violent Ken, on the other hand, is the result of being brainwashed by M. Bison which has enhanced his abilities with Psycho Power. His former brotherly rivalry with Ryu has been replaced with hatred and Violent Ken is now more ruthless, aggressive and fearless moves such as a purple-flamed fireball replacing his more traditional version.
Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers will allow players to challenge each other in arcade mode with the Joy-Con controllers or they can team up to both take on the AI simultaneously. The game will also let you switch between a classic pixel style or a new HD art look.
The game won’t be on the Switch at launch, but is slated to arrive at some point in 2017. We will bring you more news as we get it. How do you feel about Ultra Street Fighter II? Will you be fighting your way through the crowds to pick it up?
