Yes, that’s an incredibly bad joke. Sorry. But what’s not bad is the newest trailer for Nintendo’s upcoming Switch exclusive that showcases the game’s single-player mode.
In the trailer below, we see a player-controlled Inkling wandering a tragically Miiverse-free city before stumbling upon one-half of the Squid Sisters, Marie. Callie has gone missing, and it’s up to the player to tackle various challenges, splat enemies, and topple deadly bosses while investigating her disappearance.
This mode is designed to familiarize players (both kid and squid alike) with each of the game’s weapon types and acts as a crash course in Splatoon 2‘s flavor of platforming, obstacles, and combat before venturing off into multiplayer territory against human opponents.
Splatoon 2 launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch on July 21st.
