Can Humans and Octopi exist? Thats the question asked in this platform from indie developer Christophe Galati!
Nicalis have been quite busy with their Switch releases and have released a couple of things already, and today have sent us a press release telling us all about Save me Mr Tako: Tasukete Tako-San.
Save me Mr Tako: Tasukete Tako-San is described as a “charming platform adventure” which is set in a world where the human race and octopi are at war, and the game explores the tale of a pacifist octopus that saves a female human. As luck would have it, an octopus fairy saw this act of great kindness and bestows our titular protagonist, Mr Tako, the ability to survive on land. He is then able to learn more about human kind and resolve the endless conflict between the two warring species!
Mr Tako is able to spit ink towards any enemies he encounters in this new world, which then transforms them into navigable platforms for him to reach higher ground. With the ability to find and wear 50 different hats to grant him special skills, fight almost 20 boss characters and with 16 different dungeons to encounter, theres plenty to do over the world’s six different environments.
Save me Mr: Tako : Tasukete Tako-San has been the work of French indie developer Christophe Galati and was inspired by a variety of games that he played on Nintendo’s original GameBoy system and it says here that “the game’s color palettes are directly inspired by that hardware’s crude LCD display (allowing no more than four onscreen colors at a time), and the sizes of the character sprites are intentionally limited to 1989 standards. The game’s soundtrack also uses Game Boy-era instrumentation to complete the authentic retro vibe.”
Save me Mr: Tako : Tasukete Tako-San is set to release later this year and we will bring you more news as we have it. What do you make of the game’s retro look?
