Zen Studios have seemingly made the brave/unpopular decision to stop working on trying to patch performance issues.
When Pinball FX3 launched on the Nintendo Switch it appeared to struggle performance wise in handheld mode, notably the frame-rate suffered and the resolution dropped which fans and even the studio itself admitted looked bad. So bad that Zen Studios pledged to work on bringing performance up to scratch starting with 60 fps followed by better resolution. Well, now that pledge has been rescinded.
Coming from a reddit thread the developer notes:
“We have sat on this problem contemplating it for a long time, trying to find a good way to up the frames per your request. We found that there was no ‘universal’ method to do this and each table would require a lot of separate work. This volume we simply don’t have the bandwith for in the graphics and the QA department right now.”
And that seems to be that. Predictably enough, fans are not happy with these events, from the performance issues to the way fans were informed that work was no longer being done to fix them. Zen Studios have yet to clarify what this means for the future of Pinball FX3 on Switch or if current table owners qualify for some form of refund.
