That little game I loved from April has already surpassed a hundred thousand in sales.
Developed by Kan Kikuchi and published by Flyhigh Works and Circle Entertainment, Kamiko is a rather short game which draws inspiration from the early Zelda titles (as well as the developer’s previous works). It follows three shrine maidens as they quest to restore the balance between the world of the living and the world of the dead, and I actually gave it a 4.4/5 when I reviewed it three months ago.
As such, it might be no surprise to some that this $5US title has already surpassed 110,000 in sales worldwide – with the US (which I assume includes Canada) accounting for a whopping 48% (~52,800 units) of it. Trailing behind but making a good stand are Europe & Australia at 27% (~29,700 units) and Japan at 25% (~27,500 units).
For a little game that probably had no big advertising (word of mouth and its crazy low price being the obvious driving factors), I’d say it has done pretty well – wouldn’t you?
Kamiko is available now in all major regions, so if you don’t have it you should join us!
I’ve seriously considered it
