Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star is Headed to the Switch Late July

Marvelous is bringing their latest Fate title to the Nintendo Switch this Summer.

According to information revealed as a result of the latest Nintendo Direct, it looks like Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star will be making the leap to the Nintendo Switch – the game set to launch on July 20th in Japan, July 21st in Europe, and July 25th in North America. Pricing seems to be set at 7,800 yen for the standard edition and 9,800 yen for the limited edition in Japan – said limited edition version coming with an Aruko Wada-illustrated special box, and an Aruko Wada illustrated “Nero Travel Pouch.”

But wait, what the hell is Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star even about?

Those uninformed can note that the game takes place on the new world of Extella, and features a varied cast of Servants; ancient warriors of honor who survived the Holy Grail War of the Moon. Now that Moon Cell Automation is running the game however, they must battle in a digital realm called SE.RA.PH. – attempting to take back what they’ve lost.

So you’re in right? Cool!

It should be noted that picking up the game on Switch will net you an exclusive “Unshackled Bride” costume for Nero Claudius, as well as 35 pieces of DLC from the PlayStation versions of the game (the two early purchase costumes included), and language support for Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean subtitles. The audio will still be in Japanese, but if you’re like me that’s the only option anyways. 😉

All that said and done, the takeaway is that Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star is headed to the Nintendo Switch on July 20th in Japan, July 21st in Europe, and July 25th in North America. If you’re in, start saving your cash now!
