Switch Player Weekly Round-Up – October 1st, 2017

What a crazy week for Nintendo Switch owners (and ever crazier for those of us trying to write about it!). This week saw a mind-boggling number of games released for the console and, thanks to this, the Switch Player team have been extra busy – typing away furiously to bring you as many reviews as we possibly can. Switch Version of Yooka-Laylee Held Back by Unity Issues

Thanks to a blog post by the game’s developer, we have found out why Yooka-Laylee’s release on Switch seems to be taking quite a longer than what we would have liked. It is a shame that we still can’t get our hands on it just yet of course, but there is still hope that it shouldn’t be too much longer.

Back in July, we brought you the news that PM Studios’ SUPERBEAT: XONiC would be heading to the Switch this October. We’ve now learnt that the game has in fact been delayed, however – although a new trailer for the game makes up for it a little!

 

Playdead’s Inside Coming to the Nintendo Switch

In an interview with Famitsu, the game director of Playdead’s critically acclaimed platformer Inside has revealed that the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch!

A cross between a fighting game and an RPG, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is, of course, based on the ridiculously popular anime ‘Dragon Ball’. Fans of the series will likely already know whether or not they want the game, but if you’re unsure – read up on what it’s all about.

 

Thimbleweed Park

A town full of weirdos and mysterious goings-on make Thimbleweed Park a very bizarre experience to behold. The game is a crime-investigating, detective-style, point-and-click adventure that attempts to parody shows such as Twin Peaks and The X-Files. Find out if you should pick it up here!

 

Robonauts

From Qubic Games comes Robonauts – “a tough-as-nails arcade-esque shooter” that sees you playing across globe-like worlds. This is a game that looked very intriguing indeed when it was first revealed – take a look at our verdict here!

 

Kingdom: New Lands

What at first appears to be a very simplistic kingdom-management game, actually turns out to be “a deep experience that is both frustrating and fascinating”. Want to know why? Read our full review!
